Happy Birthday Jared
On Saturday December 27th Jared turned 20 years old. I am so glad God sent him to us. He has kept us young. He has been the best little brother to his sisters and brothers. He is very close to his sisters. I am glad that he is going to college. He is a good uncle and is loved by his nieces and nephews. I made him a lemon cake with lemon frosting. He is looking at a welding helmet he received for his birthday.

Christmas 2008
We all had a very nice Christmas. Santa was good to each of us. We have enjoyed each others company. It is good to have my two of my sons home. I have missed my other children but I have talked to them.
This is Jared in front and Jim in the background.
Adam holding up a pair of slippers he got for Christmas.
Yes, Santa did fill the stockings. Here is Adam checking out his stocking.
Here is Jim and Jared checking out their stockings.
Here is the Christmas tree with all the presents for us.

Snowmen Snowmen
This welcome snowman lights up. He was given to me by my friend Vickey.
This sign is by the fireplace.
These snowmen
sit downstairs
This year Jim has
decided they look
like our sons,
Daniel, Lloyd, Adam and Jared.
Can you tell Who is who?
These snowmen sit on top of the piano. I started collecting them last Christmas.

Thanksgiving Day 2008
For the week of Thanksgiving my two sons who live in California came to Utah. Daniel came from Santa Maria and stayed with Adam and Jared. Lloyd and Julia came from Chico and stayed with Tanya. Jim and I went to Utah and stayed with Delora. This year we had dinner at Adam's house. We decided to eat at 4pm so that the guys had to day to do things.
Daniel brought blue hair dye with him. Before dinner all the boys went into the bathroom and put it in their hair and beards. This is a picture of them with the blue hair dye. From left to right is Lloyd, Adam, Jared, Daniel and their Dad. Dad did not put the blue in his hair.

Jim on his tractor
Jim at the burn pit getting rid of the old burn barrow.
The big round burn barrow is all rusted out.
It was a nice fall day. Jim decided to do some tractor work. . He than disk up the back acre. He took the hay that I used for Halloween and disk it in the garden where I grow the pumpkins. The place now is all ready for winter.
I finished making pear/raspberry jam. I am now all done with the canning and jam making. I also put up the Christmas lights on my Mother's house and our house. I know it is a little early but it was a nice day.

Food Storage
How is your food storage?
The first two weeks in October is case lot sales here. Well, I purchased what I need and came home and put away the can goods. I could not put away the sugar or flour. I to find empty buckets to put the sugar and flour in. I found enough buckets to put the sugar in but not the flour. The flour set behind a couch in the living room. The stores were out of buckets. I finally got the buckets and put the flour in them. As you see. I did not get enough buckets so back to the store.
The red lid you see is called the Gamma Seal lid. It comes in two pieces and is easy to use. You just spin off the removable inside and then spin it back on.

Fall Harvest
I canned these pears on Monday night.
Here is my orchard. I have 8 fruit trees. In the back row are the apples trees; a Red Delicious, a Granny Smith and a Red Jonathan. In the middle row on the left is Apricot, in the middle is an Anjou Pear that I got all of these Pears from, and a Barttlett Pear. In the front on the left is a Peach and on the right is the Plum. As you can see I have been busy. I have been drying the apples. I canned the peaches and made jam. I only had a few Plums so I made some jam.
Here are some I picked from the pear tree. This is what is left after I canned some.
These are the pears I just canned tonight. I put red cinnamon hearts in them.

Halloween Tradition
In the Boyer household we have two Halloween traditions. One is this scarecrow. I make him out of an old pair of jeans and a old shirt. I stuff him with old newspapers. He sits on hay. All the grand kids love him. These kids are Tanya's. They are from the left to right, Porter is 6, Violet is 3, Dakota is 4 1/2, and Reese is 7 1/2.

Check out the background. It finally did it without any help. I just kept playing with it. I guess that is how I am going to learn.
New Background
I tried to change the background and messed up. It is 5:11 AM, so I am going to have too wait till I can get some help from Delora to change it back.

First Time
I have enjoyed reading different blogs. So, I decided I would be brave and start one for my self. There is a lot of things I have to learn to do. Watch for more as I learn what I am doing.
